Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health care approach that focuses on the relationship between the body’s structure—mainly the spine—and its functioning.

Every function in the body is directly or indirectly controlled by the nervous system.  Chiropractors analyze the spine for areas where misalignment may be contributing to interference in the nervous system.  These areas of interference are called subluxations.  The purpose of the Chiropractic adjustment is to correct subluxation.  Subluxations are roadblocks to the body’s natural, self-healing and self-regulating mechanisms.  When subluxations are removed the body can more readily balance and heal itself.

Chiropractic is an art as well as a science.  There are many  techniques in Chiropractic.  Dr. Gould mainly performs hands-on adjustments to the full spine and extremities.  Dr. Gould also incorporates a variety of special techniques including Cox technique (manual lumbar flexion with traction) and instrument adjusting.

Dr. Rebecca Gould, D.C. received her training at the National University of Health Science, formerly The National College of Chiropractic, in Lombard, Illinois.
